When you are looking for window coverings for your bathroom the main choice is between curtains or blinds. As both blinds and curtains are suitable for most bathrooms, it can be quite difficult to make a decision. However, here are the main reasons why you might choose one over the other.
1. Style of Bathroom
If you have a very modern space age style bathroom, then you will probably find that a plain or metallic blind will suit your bathroom better than curtains. If, on the other hand, you have a home with a cozy country cottage look, then a blind will be too plain. In this case bathroom window curtains would be just right. In either type of bathroom, however, you could swap blinds for curtains or vice versa by adjusting the style of curtains or blinds. So, you could use a tab top curtain panel in a plain fabric and it would look fine in your ultra modern bathroom. And in your cozy cottage bathroom, you could use a roman shade in a pretty fabric and that would work well too.
2. Availability of Design
If you find a ready made blind with a color and design you like, it may not be available as curtains and the same with ready made curtains which may not be available as any type of blind. Most curtain fabric however can be made into either window curtains or a soft roman shade so this should not be such a restriction although it is trickier to stiffen fabric to make a roller type blind.
3. Practicality
It is amazing how dirty bathroom curtains get due to the steam which condenses on every surface. This means that whatever you hang at your windows needs to be frequently cleaned. In some ways, it is easier to take down curtains, pop them in the washing machine and then rehang them than it is to tackle cleaning a blind. However, there are some blinds (such as louvered blinds) which you could simply wipe clean, getting over this issue.
