Perhaps the most important item that you will want to take your time and research before buying in your bathroom remodel project is to consider what type of bathroom sink will work and look best in your new room. Of course there are no wrong answers as your choice will be determined by the bathroom that you are remodeling. For example, if you are remodeling a guest bathroom you would make very different choices than if your home only had one bathroom in it.

The sink style that you choose will make a big difference in the way your bathroom looks and feels, and in many ways is the focal point of your bathroom. When you first enter the bathroom, the sink is generally the first thing you will see. It is such an important element that if you are remodeling on a budget you can upgrade your room quickly and cheaply just by replacing your sink or by adding a new vanity along with a fresh coat of paint.

Consider: Functionality

Your first assignment is to think about the overall function of the sink within this room and how this particular bathroom will be used. It is important to consider all the angles of how you will be using this sink on a daily basis, so make sure you give it a lot of thought.

For example, if your bathroom is very small you will want to use a vanity sink that has a small counter space and storage area as opposed to something larger. However, if there isn’t enough room to store the basic items you will need each day in your bathroom, your remodel will make things more inconvenient. If you are remodeling a basic powder room you may wish to opt for a nicely designed pedestal sink rather than choosing a vanity with extra storage space.

Consider: Design

After you determine the functionality of your new bathroom sink you can start to think about the design or color that you want to choose. There are a lot of different styles, shapes and designs to choose from so it will be easy to find something that will suit your needs.

If you want a clean, basic look, pedestal sinks are the way to go. But if you are looking for something more distinct and contemporary in design, vessel sinks are something to consider. If you want to go for the “wow” factor, consider alternative materials such as the popular copper bathroom sink, which will really impress your guests. If you need more counter space you should consider an under-mount sink that will provide a clean, spacious look.
