When it comes to lawn tools, many people are unfamiliar with some of the tools that can make lawn care a lot easier to manage. Most are familiar with a lawnmower, or course, which is used to cut the grass, but what about a lawn sweeper or even a lawn roller? These are two tools that can help make maintaining your yard a lot easier.

Sweepers are basically a cross between a vacuum cleaner and a lawnmower. The device is pushed along the lawn, or towed along the back of a lawnmower or tractor and its function is to pick up leaves, twigs and other small debris. So, just as you would suck up dirt from a carpet with a vacuum cleaner, the sweeper sucks up “dirt” (leaves and other debris) from the carpet of grass on your lawn. While not every homeowner needs one of these tools, they make yard clean up easier than using a rake and having to bend and lift piles of heavy leaves when it is time to clean up the yard.

Rollers, on the other hand, are used for a different purpose to keep your lawn looking lush and healthy. This tool has a weighted cylinder on the bottom that rolls along the ground and is attached to a handle that is used to push or pull the cylinder. The weight of the roller is used to flatten out the ground. This is helpful for when new grass seed is being planted so that it can adhere well to the underlying soil so that the roots have the best chance of growing strong, and is also good for new sod layment as well. The tool can also help smooth out bumps and dips in the yard, providing a smooth surface for the lawn.

Sweepers and rollers are two of the lesser known lawn tools available to homeowners, but they are both devices that can make lawn maintenance a whole lot easier than using rakes and shovels.

This article is about lawn rollers. If you have got a pretty garden and want to make it prettier, it is time that you invest in a lawn roller!

Do you have a garden that needs rolling? Well it is time that you invest in a garden lawn roller. That is right, the lawn roller is one hell of an instrument that can do a thing or two to your lawn. If your lawn has some holes or need some leveling, you can either buy a lawn roller or borrow or maybe rent one. From what I know, there are actually two main types of lawn rollers. There are the steel lawn rollers which are already heavy due to the steel metal present within the roller. Then there are the poly lawn rollers which use water as its weight. You need to fill up this type of lawn rollers with water so that they get big and useful as a weight to level your lawn.

You can also use a lawn roller when you are planning to add new sod (which refers to turf grown and cut specifically for the establishment of lawns) or plant new seedlings (or wish to do some reseeding), you can also employ the use of a lawn roller. This is how you should lay your lawn to get some new seeding done. First, before spreading the seeds, you should roll the lawn and also rake and remove any dead grass. This would greatly help the lawn to breathe. Then you can sow the lawn with your seeds and water the lawn thoroughly. After this, you can roll the lawn which will help with the germination process. It is recommended that you plant the seeds during the beginning of the year. This will allow the seeds to grow better. Of course, it is not good to plant the seeds during extreme weather conditions. The reason of course is that the seeds would be less likely to grow properly for such cases.
